North American freshwater game fish aquarium car
The Lionel Railroad Club of Milwaukee and The Zoological Society of
Milwaukee Is pleased to present this seventh in a series of limited edition
Milwaukee Road cars.
This fish car was developed in association with the Zoological Society of
Milwaukee, Milwaukee Road Historical Association and
Lionel Railroad Club,
Inc. members. It will be manufactured by Lionel LLC as the second North
American freshwater game fish aquarium car and will feature Bass, Sunfish, and Bluegill . This classic will be a fine addition to your Milwaukee Road collection and will be a nice match to our first aquarium car.
To transport and stock native fish throughout Wisconsin, the states
fisheries commission was formed and purchased its first fish car , Badger
No. 1, in 1893. That year this car was used to transport the Wisconsin live
fish exhibit to the Worlds Fair in Chicago. In 1912, Badger No. 2 was
purchased and used through the 1940's. The Milwaukee Road had its own fish cars which were used by commercial fishermen to ship fresh Wisconsin
fish nationwide through the 1950's. The Lionel Railroad Club of Milwaukee would like to promote catch and release sport fishing to preserve our natural resources.
